Carol Marton

Carol Marton

Choral Conductor, Singer

Carol Marton is a choral conductor and singer in the Boston area known for her work in Jewish choral music and women's vocal ensembles. She earned her Master's Degree in Choral Conducting at Indiana University School of Music in 1992. She is currently the Founding Director of Koleinu, Boston's Jewish Community Chorus, and she will serve in spring of 2015 as the guest conductor of Cantilena, A Women's Chorale. Carol was also the founder and artistic director of Pandora's Vox, a contemporary music ensemble for women's voices, and has directed the choir at Temple Sinai of Sharon, MA for 20 years.

"I had been using the wildly expensive, 'top-of-the-line' hearing aids recommended by an audiologist. I needed them to understand speech more easily in many situations, but the sound I had to listen to accomplish this was simply terrible. There seemed to be no other option. When I tried the BEAN for the first time, I was overwhelmed by the amount of sound I heard, but discovered quickly that it was worth getting used to. There is none of the distortion I'd been enduring with other aids (months later, I still love hearing the crisp "clink" of my house keys!) and I use them when directing my choral ensembles with much greater confidence of what I am hearing. And though I don't need them when I play the piano, I *can* use them in that situation and I would never choose to do that with traditional hearing aids. The sound difference is dramatic, with no loss of speech comprehension."
