Directional Microphones
sD-MIC

Easy to Implement
From a manufacturing standpoint, Etymotic Research's sD-MIC capsule is easy to install in a wide range of ITEs because it contains both microphones in one module. This design guarantees consistent performance; no adjustment or optimization is required by the manufacturer.

Smaller Capsule

  • The sD-MIC capsule is 60% smaller than the D-MIC, and is optimized for use in half-shells and large canal aids.
  • The sD-MIC can be mounted under a custom faceplate when desired, eliminating the standard protective screen.
  • The sD-MIC has the best BTE directivity measured to date.

Compatibility
The sD-MIC can be used with any analog or digital circuit. It is compatible with traditional non-programmable hearing aids as well as the most advanced digital and programmable technologies. All manufacturers can incorporate the sD-MIC into their products.

Equalization Options
The frequency response of the directional microphone can be flat or low-cut, and can be dispenser adjustable, user selectable, or fixed by the manufacturer.

Performance

  • Stability: Patented single-diaphragm directional construction ensures stable drift-free directional performance with temperature and humidity.
  • Lower noise: The omni microphone used in the sD-MIC is 2 dB lower in equivalent input noise than a standard Knowles TM-Series microphone.
  • Cell phone compatibility: Low RF interference sensitivity ensures compatibility with GSM cellular telephones.

The ER family of Directional Microphones is covered by U.S. patents #5,878,147 and other patents pending and applied for.
